As the holiday season begins and the fiscal year comes to an end, we wanted to take a moment to take stock of what we’ve accomplished over the past 12 months.
In total, the Gay & Lesbian Fund of Vermont made 139 awards to nonprofits in FY 2011, ranging in size from $20 to $4,500. Our biggest recipients were:
Chandler Center for the Arts, Randolph ($4,500)
Vermont Public Television, Colchester ($4,325)
Committee on Temporary Shelter, Burlington ($2,600)
AIDS Project of Southern Vermont, Brattleboro ($2,500)
Vermont Fresh Network, Richmond ($2,100)
Vermont CARES, Burlington ($2,025)
Chittenden Emergency Food Shelter, Burlington ($1,600)
Outright Vermont, Burlington ($1,350)
Green Mountain Club, Waterbury ($1,150)
Women’s Rape Crisis Center, Burlington ($1,110)
Since the Fund’s inception in 2005, we have made 750 awards to 251 different nonprofits for a total of $147,457…all without carrying the overhead expenses of an office or paid staff. Through this model, the Fund and our donors are successfully drawing public attention to the valuable contributions the LGBT community makes to our splendid state.
We thank all our donors for making this year a success, and we look forward to all the wonderful work we can do in the future.
