HomeShare Vermont Promotes Companionship, Independence

HomeShare Vermont is an innovative screening and matching service that pairs the elderly or disabled in Chittenden, Addison and Grand Isle counties with companions in exchange for free or reduced housing – allowing Home Providers to live independently with the comfort of knowing someone is available for companionship and household assistance, and giving students or working adults affordable housing options and the pleasure of forming a relationship with a person in need.

The Gay and Lesbian Fund of Vermont recently made an award to the organization to assist them in their efforts.

Another Year Of Great Public Television

Vermont Public TelevsionThe Gay & Lesbian Fund of Vermont has renewed its sponsorship of Vermont Public Television for a sixth consecutive season. The Fund will continue as a local sponsor of P.O.V and Independent Lens, a series of independent films, and American Masters, a celebration of unique, exceptional talent. Over 60 donors have pooled their donations to VPT to make this ongoing community sponsorship possible. This sponsorship effectively communicates the engagement of Vermont’s gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community in support of those aspects of the Vermont culture – like the quality programming presented by Vermont Public Television – that are important to all Vermonters.

Supporting the Friends of the Vergennes Opera House

The Vergennes Opera House

Since reviving the landmark 1897 building in 1997, the Friends of the Vergennes Opera House have worked to protect this cultural treasure. Changes in the State’s fire code earlier this year has moved one important project to the top of the to-do list: the installation of a new sprinkler system. The successful completion of this initiative will insure the safety of both the patrons and the structure of this historic building for years to come.

So far, the Friends have raised $60,000 of the $80,000 needed to fund the project, and to help them meet their goals the Gay & Lesbian Fund of Vermont recently passed a second contribution to the organization.
